Quality of Italian taste.

Typical products make Italian cuisine unimitable: it is one of the most appreciated cuisines worldwide and, at present, Italy is at the first place in Europe for its number of certified typical products. As a matter of fact, in October 2011 there were 241 products DOP (Denominazione di Origine Protetta, protected denomination of origin) and IPG (Indicazione Geografica Protetta, protected geographic indication), which make up for more than a quarter of all the certified products in Europe. In addition there are 70 wines DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita, controlled and guaranteed denomination of origin), 338 wines DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata, controlled denomination of origin) and 119 wines IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica, indication of geographical typicity).
These products represent a precious gastronomic treasure for which we are envied and which many try to copy, with scarce gastronomic results but, alas, with negative effects for our economy. Some products are very famous, others are less well known, but all of them are nevertheless particular for their production territory.
EXPO 2015 will be a very important showcase for spreading the knowledge of our gastronomic excellencies further. In this section, we will be presenting some of the most typical and characteristic products, beginning with San Colombano DOC, the only wine made within the province of Milan, intended as a symbolic toast to the success of EXPO 2015 and Italian gastronomy. un augurio, un brindisi simbolico al successo di EXPO 2015 e della gastronomia italiana.
